Stories of Peace
Real stories to inspire the next generation of women peacekeepers.
With UN Women and the Elsie Initiative, we created Stories of Peace, a book of real accounts from members of the Armed Forces who served in UN peacekeeping missions. Through their testimonies and illustrations, we sought to make role models visible, challenge gender stereotypes and inspire new generations to see themselves taking part in future peacekeeping missions.
Results
Stories of Peace grew into a second edition with new accounts, and copies reached schools across the country. The first edition sold out, an English version reached audiences abroad, more than 3,000 members of the Armed Forces took part in project activities, and 50% of the women expressed interest in participating in future peacekeeping missions.
